Porosity from resistivity log
WebMar 31, 2008 · Abstract. Resistivity data is normally used to evaluate water saturation using porosity values from porosity logs (neutron and density). Determination of initial oil (gas) in place is based on hydrocarbon saturation, porosity, and thickness obtained from openhole logging data for a given drainage area. WebDec 1, 1990 · A practical method, the Δ log R technique, for identifying and calculating total organic carbon in organic-rich rocks has been developed using well logs. The method employs the overlaying of a properly scaled porosity log (generally the sonic transit time curve) on a resistivity curve (preferably from a deep-reading tool).

That means that the lowest resistivity values sit on top of the porosity ...
WebJan 1, 2004 · Resistivity logs produce a current in the adjacent formation and measure the response of the formation to that current. The current can be produced and measured by either of two methods. Electrode tools (also called galvanic devices or, for presently available versions, laterologs) have electrodes on the surface of the tool to emit current … WebApr 10, 2024 · In shallow areas, high-porosity sediments with a resistivity varying from 0.3 to 2 Ω·m were discovered at depths ranging from 0 to 100 mbsf (meters below the seafloor), which are the caps of the gas hydrate reservoir. ... WebUsing a log reading deep resistivity, R t can be measured in the suspected oil zone and R o can be measured in one that can be reasonably assumed to be 100% water saturated.
