I have the purple gun and use it a lot at work to paint equipment that is being rebuilt. We have no shortage of air but I set the regulator on the gun at 30psi and regulate it down with the fine air adjustment till I get a nice clean pattern. I use it on a 30 gallon 110v compressor at home.

And I agree with leadfoot, use an epoxy. Sprays easy and will hold up well. Can't help on actual psi settings but the arrow is air flow DIRECTION which would be INTO the gun,The air adjust knob on the bottom is usually backed out,wide open unless your painting something small.
